REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have experience representing clients in intellectual property transactions with practical privacy/data protection experience, and be a California-admitted attorney from a firm with a comparable intellectual property practice and a top law school with solid grades.

- Legal experience, with practical privacy/data protection experience
- J.D. and CIPP/US, CIPP/E. CIPM, CIPT certifications
- Solid knowledge of and familiarity with U.S. and EU privacy and data security laws, regulations and standards, including HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, U.S. state and federal privacy, data security, breach notification, consumer protection and employment-related privacy laws, regulations and proposed legislation
- Demonstrated transactional experience, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection contract terms and agreements, such as Data Processing - Addenda (DPAs) and data processing, usage, and/or transfer agreements
- Experience with implementing incident response plans, responding to data security incidents and advising on applicable legal requirements
- Strong academic credentials
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize under tight time constraints
- Ability to understand and summarize into “plain English” complex legal requirements
- Self-motivated and independent, but able to discern when matters should be escalated and when further guidance is needed
- Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance for non-lawyers
- Active membership and good standing in at least one State Bar

Ideally, the candidate will have experience assisting with one or more of the following:
- Privacy compliance (including under the U.S. State Privacy Law, GDPR, and GLBA);
- Advertising and Internet-based and mobile privacy issues;
- Privacy program implementation and management;
- Regulatory investigations relating to privacy and data security issues; and
- Data breach response and preparedness activities.
- Drafting privacy notices, internal policies, incident response plans, and data processing addenda
